The first season of Fringe comprises a total of 20 episodes, airing from September 2008 to May 2009. The season opens with an extended 82-minute pilot and takes viewers on a journey from standalone "monster-of-the-week" cases to the major mythology that would define the series. (Note: The unaired episode "Unearthed" was produced during season 1 but was broadcast as a special episode during season 2).
